Jesus does not ask you to pay for your salvation, become perfect, or erase your past. He calls you to repent and believe in Him.

What Does the Bible Say About Rejecting Jesus?

The Bible teaches that every person has sinned and needs forgiveness. Rejecting Jesus does not make that need disappear. It means refusing the Savior God has provided.

Jesus explained:

He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already.

A person is not condemned simply for failing to perform enough religious activities. The fundamental problem is sin, and the only solution is Jesus Christ.

What Are the Consequences of Sin?

Romans 6:23 presents both the consequence of sin and God’s answer:

For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The word “wages” describes something earned. Sin earns death and separation from God. Eternal life, however, is not earned. It is a gracious gift received through Jesus Christ.

If you reject Christ, you remain responsible for your own sin. If you trust Him, you receive the salvation He purchased on your behalf.

Jesus Paid the Price for Sin

God does not simply overlook sin or pretend it does not matter. Sin requires justice. At the cross, Jesus willingly bore the judgment sinners deserve.

First Peter 2:24 says that Jesus “Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree.”

Jesus died in the place of sinners and rose from the dead. Because He paid the penalty, those who trust Him can receive complete forgiveness and reconciliation with God.

Salvation is not based on whether your past is respectable. It is based on whether Jesus’ sacrifice is sufficient—and the Bible teaches that it is.

Is Jesus the Only Way to God?

Jesus did not present Himself as one spiritual option among many. He said:

I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me.

Christianity’s claim that salvation comes only through Jesus is based on His identity and His words. No other person lived without sin, died as the sacrifice for sinners, and rose from the dead.

Rejecting Jesus therefore means rejecting the only Savior who can reconcile us to God.

Can Good Works Save Me?

Good works cannot remove guilt or pay the penalty for sin. Church attendance, baptism, charitable giving, religious ceremonies, and moral behavior cannot earn eternal life.

Ephesians 2:8–9 explains:

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not of works, so that no one may boast.

Baptism and good works are important acts of obedience after salvation, but they are not the basis of salvation. Christians obey God because they have been saved, not to make themselves worthy of being saved.

How Can I Accept Jesus Christ?

The Bible does not teach that repeating a particular phrase automatically saves someone. Salvation involves a genuine response of repentance and faith.

To respond to the gospel:

• Recognize that you have sinned and cannot save yourself.
• Believe that Jesus Christ died for sinners and rose from the dead.
• Repent by turning away from sin and toward God.
• Confess Jesus Christ as Lord.
• Trust Christ alone for forgiveness and eternal life.

A prayer can express your faith, but the words themselves are not magical. Jesus saves those who genuinely trust Him with a truly repentant heart.

What Happens If I Continue to Reject Jesus?

A person who continues rejecting Jesus remains without the forgiveness and eternal life God offers through Him. John 3:36 says that the person who believes in the Son has eternal life, while the person who rejects the Son remains under God’s judgment.

This warning is serious, but the invitation remains open while you are alive. Your past does not place you beyond the reach of God’s grace.

If you sense conviction about your sin or a desire to come to Christ, do not ignore it. Turn to Jesus, trust what He accomplished through His death and resurrection, and receive God’s gift of eternal life. It may be God through the Holy Spirit drawing you to accept His Son as your Lord and Savior. There are no second chances to accept Christ after you die. That means an eternal life in hell because everyone will be alive forever after this life. And that’s because all of us have two lives: one here on Earth and one in eternity.

Jesus Offers Forgiveness and Eternal Life

You do not have to pay for your own sins because Jesus has already provided the payment. You cannot earn salvation, but you can receive it by grace through faith.

Rejecting Jesus leaves you without the Savior. Trusting Jesus brings forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and eternal life.
