Treasure Top Ministries
Formed by lead pastor, John Haggard, a resident of Nashville, Tennessee.
This scripture was instrumental in starting Treasure Top: “…so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11; NIV) This means that those who proclaim God’s word for others to hear will accomplish God’s purposes.
Belief is not enough.
John was fortunate to have attended church starting as a small child, but what John did not learn in church was that merely believing in the Father (God), the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit (the guiding spirit that is placed in us when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior) would not get John to Heaven. It was not until he turned 48 that John learned the most important step of all: that he must accept Christ into his heart, ask forgiveness for his sins, and proclaim Jesus as his Lord and Savior in order to have a reservation in Heaven.
John was not the only one.
John knew at that moment that he was not the only one who had gone to church for many years, but never understood that “belief” alone would not get them into Heaven. He decided to dedicate himself to the mission of sharing Christ and the good news to help people become free of their past so that they could have an eternal future in Heaven.
Giving hope to the hopeless
John worked on staff at Bellevue Community Church in Bellevue, TN, and it was there that the motto “Real Hope for Real People in the Real World” also became his mission to be responsible in part for as many people as possible getting into Heaven. John also spent over 30 years in Radio and Television, and he brought many of the things he learned in broadcast media to Treasure Top to help fulfill The Great Commission as stated in Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV): “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
