Are Angels Real—or Just Our Imagination?

These passages do not mean that people should seek angelic encounters. They demonstrate that God can use angels whenever and however He chooses. Christians are called to trust God rather than place their faith in angels.

Are There Evil Angels?

The Bible also reveals that some angels rebelled against God.

Second Peter 2:4 refers to “angels when they sinned,” while Jude 6 describes angels who abandoned the position God assigned to them. Revelation 12:7–9 associates Satan with angels who joined his rebellion.

These fallen angels oppose God and His truth. Satan is a deceiver who can even disguise himself “as an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14). For that reason, something that appears supernatural, comforting, or impressive should never automatically be assumed to come from God.

Every spiritual claim must be evaluated according to God’s Word. Scripture—not an experience, vision, feeling, or supposed angelic message—is the believer’s standard of truth.

Should Angels Be Worshiped?

• Angels must never be worshiped.
• When the Apostle John fell before an angel in Revelation 22:8–9, the angel immediately stopped him and said, “Worship God.” The angel understood that he was a servant, not the Lord.
• Christians should not pray to angels, seek their guidance, or treat them as intermediaries between God and humanity. Prayer and worship belong to God alone. Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and humanity (1 Timothy 2:5).

Do Angels Still Interact With People Today?

Hebrews 13:2 says that some people have entertained angels without knowing it. This indicates that God may send angels without people recognizing them.

• However, the Bible does not tell Christians to search for angels or become preoccupied with supernatural experiences. Our attention should remain on Jesus Christ, the truth of Scripture, and obedience to God.

Whether or not we ever knowingly encounter an angel, believers can be confident that God remains sovereign over both the visible and invisible parts of His creation.

Do People Become Angels When They Die?

The Bible does not teach that human beings become angels after death. Angels and humans are distinct parts of God’s creation.

Those who belong to Jesus Christ will be with the Lord after death, but they do not become angels. Our eternal hope rests in the resurrection and the promise of everlasting life with Christ—not in becoming another kind of spiritual being.
