Fatherly Influence: What It Is and Why It Matters

fatherly influence

Today, we explore the profound impact of fatherhood. In this podcast, we discuss recent perceptions of fatherhood and how they have influenced the current generation. We delve into statistics that highlight the critical role fathers play and the characteristics that define a real father.

We acknowledge that the word “Father” can evoke painful memories for some. If you have experienced abuse or had an absentee father, we want you to know your pain is recognized. Such experiences were never God’s intention. The introduction of sin into the world has led to many performing horrendous acts, but this was not part of God’s design.

God’s purpose for fatherhood is rooted in love, wisdom, and purpose. As it says in Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV), “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” This verse affirms that every individual has a purpose and plan, even before birth. In God’s eyes, there are no accidental children.

To begin understanding fatherly influence and how to honor God the Father, we turn to the Book of Proverbs 1:1-7 (NASB):

“The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel: To know wisdom and instruction, To discern the sayings of understanding, To receive instruction in wise behavior, Righteousness, justice and equity; To give prudence to the naive, To the youth knowledge and discretion, A wise man will hear and increase in learning, And a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel, To understand a proverb and a figure, The words of the wise and their riddles. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

Is God Prompting You? If you or someone you know is not a Christian (this is referred to as someone not being “Saved”), but you feel a stirring or prompting in your heart that you have not felt before, it may be God asking you to accept his Son as your Lord and Savior.

  • There is no second chance to accept Christ if someone dies before accepting Christ. That’s why the decision to accept Him must be made now as none of us know when we will draw our last breath on earth.
  • Invite Christ into your heart now, proclaim Him your Lord and Savior, and ask forgiveness of your sins. It’s the most significant decision that one can make and determines where you are going to spend eternity, either in heaven or in hell.
