About God
God is the creator and ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God, sometimes referred to as the Holy Trinity. God is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. He has always been and will always be (Genesis 1:1, 1:26, 1:27; Psalm 90:2; Revelation 22:13).
About Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. He came to earth in human form so that we would recognize Him as the Son of God. He was born of the Virgin Mary. No one has ever seen God’s face except Jesus, but many people saw Jesus during His earthly ministry. Jesus lived a sinless human life, and because all sins must be atoned for, He offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He rose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. After 40 more days, He ascended into heaven and will return again to earth (the Second Coming) to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Matthew 1:22–23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1–5, 14:10–30; Hebrews 4:14–15; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; Romans 1:3–4; Acts 1:9–11; 1 Timothy 6:14–15; Titus 2:13; John 6:46; Acts 1:3).
About Man
Man was made in the image of God, formed to be like Him in likeness. He is the supreme object of God’s creation. Man has tremendous potential for good, but he is flawed with a tendency toward disobedience to God, which is called sin. This attitude separates man from God (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3–6; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1–2).
About Eternity
Man was created to exist forever in one of two places, either eternally separated from God by sin in hell or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is to be spiritually dead yet alive in hell. To be eternally in union with God is to be spiritually alive in the New Heaven and the New Earth. Revelation 21:1-4 says:
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain. The first things passed away.
About Heaven and Hell
Both heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence (John 3:16; 1 John 2:25; 1 John 5:11–13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; Matthew 25:31–46).
About Salvation
Salvation is a free gift from God. Only God can save someone. Man cannot save himself. Man cannot gain entrance into heaven by good works—no matter how much good he does on earth, no matter how much money he gives away, or no matter what great works he performs. Salvation comes only by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. Those whom God saves respond in repentance and confess Jesus Christ as Lord. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ by faith (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8–9; John 1:12, 14:6; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1).
About Eternal Security
God gives eternal life through Jesus Christ, which means the believer is secure in salvation forever. Salvation is possible only by the grace and power of God, not by the self-effort of the Christian (John 10:29; Hebrews 7:25; 1 Peter 1:3–5).
About the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. The Holy Spirit lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation and provides the believer with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is morally right and pleasing to God. The true Christian seeks to live under the Holy Spirit’s control each day (2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7–13, 14:16–17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25).
About the Bible
The Bible is the Word of God to everyone. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian belief and practice. Because it is inspired by God, His Word is truth without error (2 Peter 1:20–21, LSB):
Know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes by one’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever made by the will of man, but men being moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.

About Baptism
Baptism by immersion symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and is the public declaration that a person has accepted Jesus Christ as his or her Lord and Savior. Baptism does not save anyone, but it demonstrates publicly that one professes to have been saved. Although baptism is not required for salvation, it is a biblical command that demonstrates love for and obedience to Christ. It also bears witness that a believer has been born again and is now a new creation in Jesus Christ (Colossians 2:12; Acts 2:41).
About Communion
Communion, also known as the Lord’s Supper, is an ordinance given by Jesus Christ to all believers to remember His sacrifice and to symbolize the New Covenant—a new relationship with God through Jesus Christ established when a person is born again. The bread and the cup are symbols of Christ’s broken body and His shed blood. Communion is not a means of salvation. Rather, it is a testimony of a believer’s faith in the atoning work of Jesus Christ on the cross (Matthew 26:26–30; Mark 14:22–26; Luke 22:19–20; 1 Corinthians 11:23–29).
Why Does All This Matter?
Where you spend eternity depends on what you believe about Jesus Christ. If you do not know Him, or if you believe He is merely a myth or a story invented by men, the Bible teaches that eternity for unbelievers—after physical death—is the Lake of Fire, the final destination of all who reject Christ. This is a state of complete separation from God that is eternal, conscious, and inescapable (see Revelation 19:20; 20:10, 20:14, 20:15; 21:8).
Everyone has two lives—one on earth and one in eternity. The question is where you will spend eternity: in the New Heaven and the New Earth with God, or in hell, in the Lake of Fire. If you are not a Christian and have sensed a conviction in your heart or have found yourself thinking seriously about eternity, it may be that God is drawing you to His Son.
Only God can save you. In Ephesians 2:8-9, the Apostle Paul wrote down these Holy Spirit-inspired words about salvation in his epistle, his letter, to the Ephesians in the Ephesian church:
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not of works, so that no one may boast.
If you have not already accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior and you feel a prompting in your heart, it may be God is drawing you to accept His Son now. Respond to His invitation while there is still time. None of us knows when we will draw our last breath. Scripture teaches that there is no second chance to accept Christ after death.
How Can I Know If I Am Really Saved?
If you have never trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation, the very fact that you are thinking seriously about your eternal destiny may be evidence that God is working in your heart. Only God can save you—not a preacher, not another person, not the recitation of certain words, and not even you yourself. Salvation belongs to the Lord alone.
