The Biggest Lie Expanded Edition

The Biggest Lie

The biggest lie that’s ever been told to you or to someone you know is that you or they can NEVER go to heaven because of something awful that was done, that Jesus would not forgive what happened NO MATTER WHAT. And you learned that if you invite Jesus Christ into your heart, proclaim Him your your Lord and Savior, and ask forgiveness for your sins, YOU ARE GOING TO HEAVEN NO MATTER WHAT, and NOBODY can take that away from you.

The Unforgivable Sin

Rejecting Jesus Christ as the one and only Savior leaves an unbeliever without any hope for salvation. Therefore, rejecting the one and only pardon is the unpardonable sin. John 3:36: “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.”

So why is it that people LIE in the first place? Here are some reasons, but the most basic reason is that it’s a condition of the human heart, and nobody can change the heart except God. “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?” (Jeremiah 17:9; NIV)

Reasons Why People Lie to You

  1. To manipulate you – “Mary, you are one of the last ones to endorse the project. Surely you want to be part of the team.”
  2. To not offend you – “Yes Karen, that IS a lovely dress.”
  3. To withhold a portion of the truth from you – ” Sales are up 30%!”  … when in fact they are not, to try to get you to buy into something big that is not big.
  4. To avoid an inconvenience – ” Tell them I’m not in the office.”• To excuse their failure – ” I was late due to heavy traffic.”
  5. To exaggerate to take your money– ” 85% of the items are sold out,”  states the advertisement, when in fact the figure is 30%.
  6. To deceive – ” We can do the job for 15% below the lowest bidder… and on time.”

Given the seriousness of the problem, perhaps our prayer should echo that of the Psalmist, “Save me, O Lord, from lying lips and from deceitful tongues.”  (Psalm 120:2)

Because God somberly forewarns us, “No one who practices deceit will dwell in My house; no one who speaks falsely will stand in My presence…  All liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” (Psalm 101:7; Revelation 21:8b)

So, even though you get lied to and don’t always know it, there is the ONE lie that’s actually NOT a lie. Nothing can keep you out of Heaven other than to deny Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

What Can I Do Now?

If you’d like to receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you can do that right now, right where you are. Just say, “Jesus, I invite you into my life. I proclaim you my Lord and Savior.  Forgive me of my sins.” If you just prayed that prayer and truly meant it in your heart, you now have a reservation in Heaven, that was bought and paid for by Jesus Christ, and NOBODY can take that reservation away from you.

Your next step is to get into a good Bible-based church online or in-person. And alway spend 5 to 15 minutes each day with God; you can easily do that by reading his word, the Holy Bible. Start by reading one verse a day (about 5 minutes) in the Book of Proverbs (this book contains all of the wisdom you will ever need on how to live) and then read one verse in the Book of John (this book will explain to you what Jesus is all about, that he came to earth not to condemn the world but to save the world: (John 3:6; NIV) “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

You can reach God any time that you want to by going to his Word, the Bible. God’s word is ALIVE: “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12; NIV)

Rick Warren once said, “The Spirit of God uses the Word of God for the children of God to be more like the Son of God (Jesus Christ).”
