Many people believe this lie: “My sin is too great for God to forgive.”
Perhaps you’ve thought that yourself.
Maybe you’ve quietly said,
“I’ve done too many bad things.”
“God could never forgive someone like me.”
“I’ve crossed a line that can never be erased.”
If you’ve ever had thoughts like these, you’re not alone.
Many people carry the burden of guilt for years. They believe their past is simply too dark, their failures too great, or their sins too many for God ever to forgive.
That belief is one of Satan’s greatest lies.
The wonderful news of the gospel is that God’s grace is greater than your greatest sin.
No One Is Beyond God’s Grace
One of Satan’s greatest deceptions is convincing people they have sinned beyond God’s mercy.
Perhaps your past includes:
- An abortion
- An affair
- Years of addiction
- A prison sentence
- A failed marriage
- Pornography
- Dishonesty
- Pride
- A lifetime of rebellion against God
Whatever your past may be, many people conclude,
“God might forgive other people—but He could never forgive me.”
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners—including people who believe they are beyond forgiveness.
The Bible says,
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8 (LSB)
God did not wait until you became good enough.
He loved sinners while they were still sinners.
That is the greatness of His grace.
What Jesus Accomplished on the Cross
When Jesus Christ died on the cross, He completely satisfied God’s righteous judgment against sin for everyone who believes in Him.
His sacrifice wasn’t partial.
It wasn’t temporary.
It wasn’t enough for only certain sins.
It was completely sufficient.
For every believer, Christ paid for every sin—
- Past
- Present
- Future
This does not give believers permission to continue living in sin. Rather, it demonstrates the completeness of Christ’s finished work and the immeasurable greatness of God’s grace.
Everyone who genuinely repents and places his faith in Jesus Christ is fully forgiven, declared righteous before God, and adopted into God’s family forever.

Jesus Is Praying for You Right Now
The good news doesn’t end at the cross.
Jesus didn’t remain in the tomb.
He rose from the dead.
He ascended into heaven.
Today He continues His ministry for His people.
The Bible says,
“Hence, also, He is able to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”
Hebrews 7:25 (LSB)
Think about that.
The Son of God is continually praying for every believer.
He intercedes before the Father on behalf of those who belong to Him.
What incredible comfort.
What remarkable assurance.
What Actually Keeps Someone Out of Heaven?
Many people ask,
“What sin will keep me out of heaven?”
Some assume it’s murder.
Others think adultery.
Others believe divorce is unforgivable.
Still others think they’ve simply committed too many sins.
The Bible points us to a different answer.
The issue is not that Christ’s sacrifice is insufficient.
The issue is whether a person will receive God’s only provision for salvation—Jesus Christ.
Jesus said,
“He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
John 3:36 (LSB)
Every person who remains separated from God does so because he rejects God’s only provision for salvation.
There is forgiveness for every sinner who comes to Christ in repentance and faith.

God Is the One Who Draws People
No one saves himself.
Not a pastor.
Not a church.
Not baptism.
Not good works.
Not religious rituals.
Jesus said,
“No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.”
John 6:44 (LSB)
Salvation begins with God’s gracious work.
If you sense conviction over your sin…
If you desire to know Jesus Christ…
If your heart is being drawn toward Him…
Do not ignore that gracious work.
God may be drawing you to His Son today.
Don’t Wait
The Bible never promises another opportunity after death.
Scripture says,
“And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment.”
Hebrews 9:27 (LSB)
None of us knows when our earthly life will end.
Today is the day to respond.
If God is working in your heart, don’t ignore His gracious invitation.
Repent of your sins.
Place your trust in Jesus Christ alone.
He is the only Savior.
He alone forgives sins.
He alone gives eternal life.
Jesus promises that everyone who comes to Him in faith will never be cast out.
