If God Is Good, Why Is There Suffering? (Part 2)?
In Part 1 of this message, we learned that the first step of interpreting scripture is to read scripture in CONTEXT, not in isolation out of context, which is known as PRE-TEXT. Pre-text is taking a sentence here and there out of Scripture and then trying to expand its meaning to suit the topic being discussed instead of focusing on the totality of the Word of God to determine what God is saying.
God warns us not to ADD TO or TAKE AWAY from His word: “I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God shall add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book” ((Revelation 22:18-19 NASB).

What Does Jesus Know About Our Suffering?
In Revelation 2:9-11 Jesus says: “‘I know your tribulation and your poverty but you are rich. Do not fear what you are about to suffer….Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.” What Jesus means by rich is those who have inherited the kingdom of God in Heaven when they die.
How Suffering Began in the World
The world today is under a curse due to sin, which includes suffering and death (Genesis 3:16-19). Sin was introduced into the world when Adam and Eve disobeyed God which then caused death to befall all of their offspring as well as themselves, and that includes you and me, many generations later.
