Questions to Ask
If you consider yourself a Christian, have you ever wondered how to know if you are really saved? Some believers doubt their salvation because they continue to do things they shouldn’t do.
Many sincere believers wrestle with the question: “Am I really saved?” Thankfully, the Bible gives clear assurance to those who are in Christ.
- Salvation is not based on feelings, but on God’s promises. Scripture says, “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him” (John 3:36). It is not the strength of your faith that saves, but the object of your faith—Jesus Christ.
- A genuine believer experiences inner transformation. “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come” (2 Corinthians 5:17). While Christians still battle sin, they no longer love sin the same way and desire to obey God.
- The Holy Spirit gives personal confirmation. “The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,” (Romans 8:16). This inward testimony, combined with a growing hunger for God’s Word and holiness, points to true salvation.
- A believer perseveres in faith. Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish—ever; and no one will snatch them out of My hand” (John 10:27–28). Genuine Christians are kept by God’s power and continue to walk with Him.
If you have repented of your sin and trusted in Jesus alone for salvation, you can know you are saved. “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:13).
Assurance comes not from perfection, but from a heart changed by grace—and a life that increasingly reflects Christ.
